In the first couple of pages, I really felt like one with Wallace. The story spans a single weekend and the author does a fantastic job talking about introversion, relationships, existential thoughts of "what am I doing with my life", and some *isms in academia. The author not only talks about how racism is felt by Wallace but how it felt for his group of white friends to say and do nothing about it.

This book was unlike any book I've ever read before. The first chapter is 70 pages and there aren't many good stopping points for when you need to take a break. The detail is incredible. It's well done, though I felt it may have been a bit over the top. There were lots of vivid descriptions of things that really didn't pertain to the story.
