Nevernight
by Jay Kristoff
Finally! I have been wanting to read this book for a LOOONG time and I finally got to it. I should NOT have waited so long! I loved this book. There was just enough description and detail in the murderous scenes as well as the "sexy" scenes. It wasn't so much detail that I was grossed out during the killings, but just enough for me to cringe and enjoy! haha. Also, I didn't feel like a Smut-Seeker during the sex scenes. I was able to enjoy and appreciate what was happening. The character of Mia is such a great one! She is refreshingly different than ANY other character I've ever read. I love that she has multiple layers, and that they are not all laid out right at the beginning of the book; rather, we discover Mia over the course of the entire book. I know there is more to learn about her in the next two books, and I'm really excited about getting to know her better. I also know that no matter how well I feel I know her, I won't ever really know her... She is an enigma and that is one of the things that makes her fantastic. But let's not end this little review without mentioning my FAVORITE... Mister Kindly! Gosh I love that not-cat! His wit and smartass-ness made me literally laugh out loud. I wish he could be MY shadow companion.
