I was hooked from the first sentence! Bianca Butterman’s voice is so fresh, and written exceptionally well by PK Hrezo. I felt like Bianca could’ve been any teenage girl, even me (when I was a teenager). I love her and her goth-edginess.
When boy band popstar, Tristan Helms, comes to Butterman for a “time sensitive situation” when the company is being audited things get interesting, and that’s just the first chapter! Tristan ruined his career when he became addicted to heliox. Now he’s determined to get a lost song he wrote just before he used for the first time, and he wants Bianca to go with him. I didn’t think I could like a popstar character, but PK Hrezo did a great job making him more than a popstar. He’s mysterious, intense, tortured and vulnerable. There is something about him that is alluring.
Butterman (Time) Travel, Inc. is such a clever and unique story. I’ve never read a current NA book about time travel, and PK Hrezo does it flawlessly, making the story line and all the technicalities with time travel easy to understand. And that is no small feat. Everything about this book is creative from remote control kites and holo-Frisbees to time crafts and jetpacks. Bianca and Tristan get into a lot of fun and a lot of trouble. Following their adventure puts you in an adventure, too. There are so many twists, and each one is mind-boggling!
Heads up: There is quite a bit of drugs mentioned in this story, as well as drug use, including marijuana, mushrooms and futuristic drugs. I mention this for readers who don’t like that sort of thing.
With that said, I loved everything about this book. I’m a huge music buff, so all the music and the references to great artists was a real treat. If you love music, time travel, and want to go on an adventure, this is the book for you!
