Phenomenally done. Mind-blowing word-building, fascinating characters. I would have loved to read a novel or series of several of the stories. And I would have loved the collection more if I loved short stories, but obviously that’s me, not Jemisin, whose mind is just *incomprehensible*. I just can’t imagine having a brain like that. The world-building alone...

My favorite stories were L’Alchimista, Valedictorian, On the Banks of the River Lex, and The Narcomancer.
