Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

I can't believe it has taken me this long to finally read (and review) Rebecca. I should have read it years ago - it blew me away! This is a fantastic, gothic story with a narrative that creates a feeling of dread every step of the way. The characters are vivid, with some very ugly personalities on display. Oddly though, the male lead Maxim seems to be the only character that lacks depth. The setting description is beautiful - I could picture Manderley perfectly. The plot itself had a couple of huge twists that I didn’t see coming (although I did predict the ending)! Overall, just a stunning classic and I definitely recommend it.
