TW: sexual assault/harassment

I DNF’ed this about 25%. The way this book was handling sexual assault just didn’t sit right with me. The MC seemed careless in her approach to expose a predator; everything was centered on *her* and her self-righteous quest to expose this guy, rather than on actually centering and helping the survivors / supporting them in whatever way *they* needed. Holding people accountable for any kind of sexual harassment/assault is a really good thing that should happen, but the way it was being done in this book felt like it was disregarding the safety, health, and privacy of the women who were the actual survivors and instead centering on the MC’s personal vendetta (even if justified) against this man. I don’t know how this continues for the rest of the book, but it just felt really uncomfortable to read the way Liv was interacting with Jessica and how little she was respecting Jessica’s wishes. I also think it’s weird for a rom-com plot to be about exposing a sexual predator? Like maybe a story about a really serious situation just doesn’t quite fit right for a genre primarily filled with humor and flirtation. I’m not trying to say at all that these topics don’t / can’t have a place in this genre, or any genre, but the way that it was being handled in this book was making it into a rom-com ‘adventure’ plot device more or less, and I think that’s where I was taking issue.
