I guess I'm surprised this isn't as bad as I expected. I Love love love Ultimate SPider-man but the rest of the ultimate universe was 50/50. I never even read any Ultimate title once I got to ultimatum. So no X-Men, Avengers, Ultimates, or any of them. So going back I was holding my breath on any of it being good. I never even heard much about these series after that terrible event. Who knew it can be pretty entertaining?

So Kitty Pride has had enough of this shit. Stryker is basically in sentials now, like inside them, and they are hunting all mutants. On top of that Kitty heads down south with Bobby, Rogue, and Jimmy (Wolverine Jr.) and decides to begin a rebellion. With Kitty being in charge, she's scared, but she knows what must be done to take the war to them. Facing Racism and odds stacked against her she marches forward towards victory with some unlikely allies!

What I liked: Loved Kitty in here. She's just so admirable. She has badass moments but she doesn't come across as "perfect superhero girl" she's just a scared teenager who's had enough of this shit and trying her best to survive. She's relatable and you instantly root for her. I also really loved the issue with the racist rednecks being pricks to mutants. Really does give the world a scary place to live for these guys. Also enjoyed the ending and it's set up for the future three volumes.

What I didn't like: The art can be a bit iffy sometimes. Making some characters look to similar at parts. The action sometimes struggles to flow. I also thought the fight against the robots was the least interesting part and had me wanting to get back to the talking since the dialog was pretty solid.

Overall I'm digging Brian's take on X-Men. I'm hoping the next 3 volumes build on this idea of going to a new world filled with a ton less mutants. Let's hope it keeps up!
