My Boy, Volume 2 by Hitomi Takano
4.0

This is actually turning out to be a sweet tale of basically a woman being like a older sister/aunt/mother-like-figure to a boy who has a really shitty living style.

I really enjoy a lot of the reactions in this book to situations because they aren't over the top anime/manga type reactions. Satoko is trying to figure out what to do in life and it doesn't help that her co-worker is kind of a dick and an old ex-boyfriend. On top of that Mashuu is trying to become the best he can be at soccer so those two story lines of them helping each other through darker times is nice.

I think the highlight of this volume is Satoko coming to the realization she can be who she wants to be, and learning to embrace being happy for a change. Mashuu learning to be more open with people and become friends was his mission. I think both did admirable jobs in this volume.

My Boy is coming off as a sweet story of two people in different stages of their life helping each other out. I really hope it continues to be this good.
