I kept hearing good things about this book and it did not disappoint! I knew it was a sci-fi romance but did not expect the thriller-esque ‘groundhog day’ plot line. I was there for all the twists and discoveries.
I did like the romance but did wish towards the end there was more detail or “stories” of what the older versions of themselves did/discovered other than about their relationship. Like i would love to know how they celebrated birthdays, etc.
It was interesting to see how the clones reacted to the situation and later the previous discoveries. The deaths from radiation/cancer were sad even though we know it was only the end for those clones and were technically not the people they believed they were.
I would have also liked more detail when they settled into the new planet instead of just snippets over months.
I don’t know how to feel about Ambrose’s mother who created the whole mission and clones, she didn’t even birth nor raise Ambrose and Minerva and probably non of the other Cusk siblings. She didn’t even tell the real Ambrose and Kodiak what they were doing until after they had already copied their minds for the mission. And using her voice for the ship was just creepy. I don’t think i like her at all.
I liked the happy ending that they got and im excited to read the sequel of the grown children and how they adapted to the planet instead the long(er) term.
