I wanted so badly for this to be a story set at a school and focused on learning what feels like a magic system of sorts alongside our main character. I was pretty disappointed as this wasn't the case and how so much information was stolen, not learned. 

Not necessarily a bad book, but perhaps the marketing/blurb were misleading.
