⚠️tw: discussion of on page rape, victim blaming, and emotional abuse⚠️
I read this book years ago and I still remember it in detail. Not in a good way. I've never been so disgusted with a book before. The book starts off with the MC being kidnapped and then raped by the love interest. As if that wasn't bad enough, she forgives him a few days later because it's nOt HiS fAuLt. Yeah...we're not only supposed to like him but also forgive him because it's his culture and that's just how it is. The worst part though was when she went to one of the "wives" aka a fellow rape victim and tells her to get over it. She says that it's not his fault and that he didn't know better and that she needs to give him a chance because her (completely warranted) "mean" response to him is hurting his feelings. It's nothing short of horrifying. I'll never get the time back that I wasted on this book nor be able to forget the disgusting contents. This series had an interesting premise and then ruined it with this misognitic piece of steaming horse shit. This entire book is just a rotten, mouldy, dumster fire of glamourizing and romanticizing rape. I would rather pour bleach in my eyes than ever read this again.
I'd also like to mention that nowhere in the synopsis or start of the book is there a content warning...
