We have a classic that was the February pick for #howlsmovingclassics2020 readalong. Little Women, probably one of the most recommended classics for those who identify as women along with Anne of Green Gables. It's a book I have always wanted to try reading, and I'm happy it's off my TBR list forever. But did I like it?

For the most part, yes I did. The writing is charming in its own way that is really good. The characters of the four sisters (Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy) are incredible and the amount of development they go through from beginning to end made me very happy; it was very cute and it entertained me. The side characters were also well done, I particularly loved Mrs March and Laurie the most. The characters made this book heartwarming and to me are the best quality of the book as it was meant to.

So my small nitpick is that this book doesn't have a plot. I've read a lot of character driven stories before and I love it when it's done right, but not with this one. There were some situations that I think the book could've done without and I think it should've had a little bit of a plot to help its pace. I don't mind that it is a slow burn, but even a little plot would've given the book some grounding and stability. I was a huge fan of the beginning and middle of the book but it kinda fell a little flat close to the end. Only a little.

Like I said before, I am happy I read Little Women. It was cute and I did enjoy it. I do wish that it was a bit better but for what it's worth, I still say give Little Women a read to get your own opinions on it if you haven't. Liked Little Women, but not going to read the sequel.
