The Fifth Season
by N.K. Jemisin
Very enjoyable. A new world, with its own unique problems and a new kind of magic system. And a society that's adapted to live within it. Relatable (and generally likeable) characters with mysterious pasts. One section told in second-person point of view, for some reason!
From page one, I was hooked by the story and enjoyed the writing style. I'm simultaneously sad that I waited to read the book and glad that I did (so I can read the next two in rapid succession).
