Reread March 2023: 3.5 stars. So much better than book 1. Simon has more personality than Jace though. And the insta-love with Jace and Clary is so ridiculous. There’s nothing between them that actually is compatible, at least it’s not written that way. Anywho, just chugging along with my reread. 

June 2014: Good reread. Forgot how intense it was with Simon in this book. I wish Jace was more convincing. His emotions seem over the top and silly at times, and this book oozes cheesiness. I know each book is better than the last so I'm looking forward to getting to the last book. 

January 2012: This still isn't my favorite series ever. I actually enjoyed this book overall much more than the first, which usually isn't the case. I liked that Clary got to take more of a starring role in a lot of the action. I also enjoyed getting to learn more about the other downworlders. I STILL think (and my belief was I think partially confirmed in this one) that the Jace storyline has more to it...I'm trying to give my opinion without giving away spoilers!
