Giving it stars because it made me laugh a bit. Some of the spice was nice. And I’m a sucker for a You’ve Got Mail-esque story (even though this story doesn’t do it justice). However, I’m so over the “dude bro” emotionally stunted MMC. The relationship felt so empty and superficial. And the ending was extremely rushed. What Colin did…it just went beyond not telling someone you’re their anonymous text buddy. He used her insecurities to get a coworker to lie for him. And Olivia? She was entirely too childish. It was very much infantlizing a woman. Olivia is ridiculously clumsy, really she’s downright incompetent but the author makes her not only helpless and completely incapable of living on her own, she also makes Olivia wear her high school clothes to really nail in that Olivia is a child. I’m also tired of books where the FMC doesn’t have friends. And no, Sarah, her high acquaintance, does not count. Can men not have meaningful friendships either??? I can’t see how these too are “like each other’s best friend” when they only boned a few times and went on about two dates and spent the last decade not liking each other. The book was just too silly for me to take their relationship seriously.
