Something to Talk About by Meryl Wilsner
5.0

This was an excellent book as far as diverse leads goes, so I was glad it fit that prompt for my reading challenge. One of our leads (Jo) is a powerful Hollywood writer, Asian American, in her 40s, and very hush hush about her orientation but most people assume she is queer. Our other lead (Emma) is mid-twenties, Jewish, and bisexual. Emma is Jo's assistant but they get along very well so when Jo asks Emma to attend the SAG awards with her as a buffer to handle unwanted conversation, Emma is surprised but not shocked. However, in a tense moment on the red carpet, they share a private moment trying to each get the other to relax and the press spreads the rumor that they're dating. The entire book is about them navigating these rumors about their feelings for one another and then starting to discover whether or not the rumors could be true.
