It’s a 3.5⭐️ and at the moment I’m not sure I’m going to bump it to 4 or keep it at 3. The plot and characters are nice. Brodie is a great book boyfriend. But there was some parts that lasted a little too long and caused me to get bored. And there’s some characters that I didn’t like that much (Josephine & Eli). It did have a nice (but predictable) ending.

This was a really slow-burn for all the epistolary parts and then a sudden insta-love. At least with Brodie for he fell first I think. Izzy was just so insecure about everything so she never believed in the insta-love at first. At least the ending was a Happy For Now (HFN) with a possible HEA.

❤️ A note about the book references in here… That part I liked and one of the reasons why I continued reading it (Brodie & Luke is the other reason). I almost DNFd this but pushed through thanks to those things I liked (& it’s a Library Physical Loan which just encouraged me to push through and finish). I really liked how Izzy & Brodie named their dogs out of Lord of the Rings characters. And the end with the Guernsey and the Potato Peel Pie reference was cute (even if it was a predictable moment). Because of the book references and all I’m going to see if my library has the other books in the series (digital or physical, I’m not picky unlike Izzy).

Also thank goodness it was light on the Christian Fiction tone. Thankfully there was no hidden agenda that I paid attention to at least. I enjoyed that it was more focal on the characters and their love of books over that.
