I bought the Kindle edition of this manga a while ago because I thought the concept was probably going to be funny. I really enjoyed it overall. The characters are all a bit awkward but each one of them has a personality that stands out. Despite all being otaku, their hobbies still differ. It showed how broad nerd culture can really be and how it encompasses everything from otome games to video games to doujinshi. Each character has their own specific hobby that they are more well informed on than the rest of the group, which is nice because it shows their individuality.
Hanako and Taro’s relationship was probably my favorite romantic relationship so far. They do nothing but consistently bicker about the most ridiculous things when they are in front of their friends, but when it comes down to it they do enjoy each other’s company and go out of their way to make the other feel supported within the relationship. Hirotaka and Narumi’s relationship is entertaining in more subtle ways especially because Hirotaka is not the best at expressing his feelings outwardly and Narumi tends to be afraid of how her feelings and actions are perceived. They are also a newer relationship, at least romantically. I’m sure that the other volumes in the series will continue to develop their relationship. Taro and Hanako’s relationship is clearly more well developed in terms of them understanding each other very well. It isn’t explicitly stated how long they have been together, but the mangaka has done an excellent job by implying that it has been a while. Things you should do in a manga: show me rather than tell me, so good job! I’m looking forward to eventually getting the physical copies of the manga in the future. For now I’ll hold off because otherwise I’ll suffer as I wait for the other volumes to be released in English. I’ll be sure to come back to it later, just not anytime soon because I don’t want to suffer while I wait.
