I loved everything about this book. Maybe it was how much I have in common with Emira, but it felt like Reid was speaking directly to me.

It strikes a perfect balance of addressing some very deep and complex topics without being dense. Reid's ability to deftly layer characters and their interactions is perfection. Just as in life, the characters are multidimensional, their motivations complicated, and their choices aren't always right.

I appreciated reading a book that acknowledges the intersectionality of race, gender, and class that is also a fun beach read.
