Girl, Serpent, Thorn
by Melissa Bashardoust
Pleasant enough, with a better beginning than an end. I found I enjoyed Soraya's character (and am very glad I read Rappaccinis Daughter, to appreciate the source of inspiration there) at the beginning, and Parvaneh moreso.
As time went on, I found I became a little less invested, as it was clear how the story was going to go, and the cycle of trust lost and regained became a little less believable to me. Still, it was an enjoyable read to the end. I was entertained.
