vampiresessah 's review for:
The Island of Dr. Moreau
by H.G. Wells
First of all I adore H.G. well's writing. It's vivid, engaging and sparks the reader's imagination. I read this one quickly and enjoyed the sunny, yet disturbing, atmosphere it creates. I could feel myself absorbed into the world or Dr. Moreau's little island.
Most impactful was the ending for me when Prendick gets finally back to "civilisation" but realises that he still sees hints of the beasts in every human he meets. It makes you wonder if there really is a line between man and animal or if man are just masquerading as such until the moment of true character reveals itself.
