I received a copy of this publication from the publisher via Net Galley.

A fresh take on the rom-com. Or at least I think it is, I must admit that is not a genre I am well versed in.
This is the typical book about a woman whose husband cheats on her, the marriage ends, and she leaves town. In the process, she finds another man.
But here is how it is not that typical book. It's not sappy.

What I really enjoyed about his book, was the real emotions and thoughts of Thea. Thea ended up in Scotland, from inheriting her Uncle's home. She didn't intend to stay. As she is navigating her newly single life, Thea decides to spend the summer in Scotland. She decides to get a job. Over time she develops friendships. Meanwhile we see her question why her husband cheated, but also realize that it was on him and not her. As her and the bookstore owners' relationship deepens, Thea is at first ignorant of the idea that she is desireable, but mostly because she doesn't believe she is ready for a relationship. When she finally realizes that she loves Edward and they decide to enter a relationship, she doesn't just jump in blindly. She has hesitations and thinks about realities. To me, this made the book so relatable.
