I read this when I was in middle school, and I'm not the biggest fan of sci-fi books but this one! Oh this one!! I'm thinking of revisiting it and experiencing the book again but whew! There's so much! A whole world with all the characters so carefully written and thought of Nancy Farmer is amazing! This book is huge and it was one of those books you just fall into and you can feel yourself walking with the characters side by side.
