Wouldn't have read this were it not on the book club's agenda. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone who values the time they spend reading. I'm giving this two stars instead of one for two reasons. I am sincerely glad the author had and took the opportunity to share his personal story, and I realize that while rating this work, I'm making the assumption most readers aren't entirely ignorant of the circumstances in which people living with addiction often find themselves. To me, however, this type of account is nothing new or unique. I'm actually quite tired of hearing addiction used as an excuse for the choices people make. And keep making.
