Ah the curse of the middle book of a trilogy is accurate here. Just like my review of City of Bones-The Mortal Instruments #1, I liked this story, but really didn't like the writing style because I felt the author was trying way too hard to be descriptive. It was better in this book than the first, but it was still pretty awkward. I kept picking up on descriptions that were the same and got super annoyed with it. Example- the hole in the side of the boat was the size of a dog...and then just a few pages later...the basins were big enough to bathe a dog. I also felt that many of the adult characters were incredibly immature and whiny. Here's to hoping book 3 is better!
