THIS IS NOT A DARK ROMANCE! This book has a lot of triggers, and I have heard time and time again someone say they don't have triggers and then get triggered. I would say this is an erotic horror, and not in a good way. The FMC is Ophelia, who grew up the only child to an abusive alcoholic father. The MMC is Alexander, aka Alex, who grew up with an evil, killing, sexually sadistic family, everyone except for his mother. Ophelia crosses paths with Alex and his brother Gunnir at the diner she works at, and unfortunately, this is where Alex decides that Ophelia will be his. The events that take place after this I would not wish on my worst enemy. Lauren's ability to make you sympathize with the villain is uncanny. Her writing is smooth and easy to read. If you have it in you, yes, I would recommend, but please read the triggers.
