Unmasked by the Marquess by Cat Sebastian
4.0

I just completed this masterpiece and it felt so good. Robert Shelby goes to London with one purpose, to get his sister married well and then disappear. He must disappear because he's not Robert Shelby but Charity Church, lifetime friend to the Shelby's and has lived as Robert Shelby well before her friend's tragic death. She meets Alistair, a grumpy arrogant marques who only cares about repairing his family's reputation after the death of his degenerate father, and the two fall in love.

The Good
I loved so much about this book. I loved the characters a lot. Robin/Charity/Robert and Alistair had excellent chemistry but also had a great understanding of each other. Some may find the development too fast but I allow it because there was so much that needed to be got to later in the story. I loved Alistair's character development and reflection on the way he lives his life. I also loved him being bisexual. Some books would have had him have a "oh i was only attracted to her because i could 'sense' she was a girl all along" and I loved this book was the complete opposite of that. I also loved that Charity didn't suddenly agree to live as a woman or compromise herself. It really warmed me.

The Bad
As I mentioned a little in the good section, the romance was paced a little fast. While I understood, I wish their was more of their relationship before they where exclaiming I love yous. I also found the miscommunication part a bit baffling. Why would Louisa think Charity, who is risking everything for her, would just sell her off to a rich man because he said so? It has been shown they have a good relationship, even if Gilbert misunderstood, why would Louisa just go with it? Charity knew Louisa didn't like him and wouldn't have forced her. I just found that bit annoying even if it was necessary for the plot to progress the way it did.
