Brother
by Ania Ahlborn
Another slam dunk for Ania Ahlborn. Or should I saw this was a slam dunk already because I am reading her bibliography way out of order and she wrote this legend before the other books I have read? Either way... this BOOK IS EVERYTHING!
Ahlborn crafts a story of a murderous family in Appalachia with a lot of secrets. It's a testament to her writing that we are able to even feel sympathy for one or more of them as the story proceeds. But I found myself really rooting for our main character and the things he has to endure are heartbreaking, both mentally and physically.
This story is gut-wrenching. It is haunting. It is beautiful. It is fiery and gruesome. It is bananas. It is AWESOME. 5 stars!
