This was a very easy read that I enjoyed. You can tell that a lot of pirate stereotypes came from this novel. The main character, Jim Hawkins, is a very intelligent young man with an honest heart. For the most part, the story is told through his eyes and ears. He serves as a good contrast to the characters that are antagonists or are in a grey area in terms of morality. The plot has interesting twists and turns which makes it hard to get bored. Even if you know the overall plot of Treasure Island, reading it is still an exciting experience I think everyone should have. It's worth picking up and I highly recommend it.
