A good mystery, but I was never on the edge of my seat.
Normally, I don't go for books that I feel like might creep me out. But this time, I did, and I felt like I was let down. I was hoping that this would keep me on the edge of my seat, not being able to put this down. Unfortunately, that didn't happen with this book for me.
The one thing that I did like about this book were all the charcters. Mickey was a good main character, with a good sense of humor. He went through a lot, and I liked how he was very mature, for being a sophmore in high school. We don't see much of Ashley in the book until the end, but I am hoping that we do in the next book in the series. I was left a little confused about her past, and want to know more. I didn't like Myron at all. He tried to act as a father figure, but it wasn't working for me. Spoon added some comic relief to the story which I liked. He would have to be my favorite character in the book for that. He was an oddball, but I liked how he and Mickey became friends through the story. Ema was cool, and obviously has some secrets that she's hiding. I found it hard to believe that she was 14 years old for the way she acted. Yup, definitly has some secrets. Bat Lady was odd. I knew from the beginning that she wasn't going to be a bad guy. At the end I was pleased to finally learn more about her.
Overall, the story was okay. The characters were good, and the pacing was perfect. It didn't move too slow, or too fast. I did find some things predictable, but like I said with every other book that I foud predictable, I don't care because I like to see how the author writes the scenes. I am going to continue on with the series, and now I'm entrigued to find out more. Hopefully, book two will be better.
