The Haunting of Stoke Water: The Psychic Sisters Series
by Elizabeth Andrews
I received a free copy in exchange for a review.
This book is about a building that used to be a workhouse. There are ghosts in the building. An evil presence tries to drown Ruth's niece. As Ruth and the sisters Queenie and Sybil uncover the mystery of Sarah Ann's murder they discover a tragic truth about the fate of the children of the workhouse.
Some parts of this book were unnecessary, such as the bickering between Gwen and Queenie. It was also repetitive that they were always having cups of tea. In every chapter someone, usually Gwen, offered to make the characters tea and food. Rosemary also really annoyed me because she kept interfering in the investigation and I feel as though she should have left with her other daughter Cathy.
However because of what happens to the villain in the ending I am giving this 4 stars. Although it would have been nice if instead of more dialogue between Gwen and Queenie, it could have ended with something like Rosie being reunited with her stuffed bear and Ruth telling her that she is safe. Despite some of the annoying dialogue, I am glad I read this and I would recommend to someone looking for a creepy mystery book.
