I got these books because I really like mythology and was intrigued by a superhero series inspired by Sudanese gods. This issue was all over the place. The art style changed several times for no apparent reason. The dialogue was off. In some places, it sounded unrealistic and stilted and in others, it read more like an author's notes about a character than dialogue revealing a character. The characterization was heavy handed. You know who the villains are by the number of racist slurs they use. It felt gratuitous. The main villain's origin story was baffling, and the lore of the world felt poorly explained and awkward. It felt over the top enough to be campy, and parts of it made me laugh at how outlandish it was, but I don't think that was intentional. Some of the art of the gods is nice.
