Lady Macbeth
by Ava Reid
3.5 years rounded up because I’m a generous rater. I was able to get into this book more once I separated it from the source material. It’s about as much of a retelling of Macbeth as you could call Harry Potter a retelling of the Bible. Similar construction, you can use the original as a way to orient yourself on the basic story, but the details make them in no way the same. Making the main character someone Not Lady Macbeth made me enjoy her and the book greatly. If you’re looking for the play, don’t read it. If you want a decent story about gothic magic and women being done with men using them for their own gains, then pick it up.
