Some of my dislike of this may be due to the audiobook; it probably reads better visually. However, it was pretty disappointing. There were weird interludes that were not distinguished from the main storyline in the audio, so it was often hard to tell what was going on. Nothing was ever really explained. I guess the mom was magic and could convince people to do things, but why? What was the point of this whole entire story?
