3.5 - This was a very cute YA novel, and an enjoyable read.

I love the way Renee Watson writes flawed characters that are relatable, fully fleshed out, and real. She has a way of making flawed characters still likable.
While I really love the main character and her grandmother, I wish we had seen more of her friend and that the romance wasn't so flat for me. I wish the romance wasn't such a big part of the book and that her bestfriend could have taken up have the page time that her romance did, but overall I enjoyed this book.
