libscote 's review for:
If These Wings Could Fly
by Kyrie McCauley
Leighton is such a strong character. Even if I didn't always think what she was doing was right, I did understand why she would be taking the actions she does. Leighton, her sisters, and her mother are not safe at home, but her mother doesn't seem ready yet to admit that something has changed about Leighton's father. Everyone else in their small town keeps looking away. The house repairs itself, and the crows keep coming.
Leighton does have a few bright spots: her friendship with Sophia, and growing relationship with Liam McNamara. Can she do what needs to be done to save herself and her family?
It's a hard read at times, because this book is about domestic violence and what it does to families and teens. It's still really good, and ends on an uplifting note.
