I liked a lot more of the lines and turns of phrases in the first collection, but so many more plot twists caught me by surprise in this one! Which was great fun. There’s certainly a darker, somber tone to many of the poems, but also a story-like quality that offers suggestions of a larger picture to really stoke the imagination.
