Summer in the City by Alex Aster
2.0

I enjoyed the first half of the book. Elle, while annoying and judgmental, had some funny moments. The second half really went off the rails. Average people know that billionaire’s suck and that jets are bad for the environment, but I am not really interested in a self aware billionaire romance. Elle is obsessed with money, particularly how others spend their money. Elle isn’t poor though, she has money and a lot of it. She also judges her sister for any decision she makes and is shocked to learn her sister does not want a life like Elle’s. I wanted to DNF with about 30 pages left, but it felt like a waste. I struggled to finish after the 3 act break-up and 2 year time jump. Elle is also a self insert and it clear to see how the publishing of Lightlark effected Aster.

UPDATE:
The more I thought about the book, the more I disliked it, so I lowered my rating.
