Note: required reading

"'All that is very well', answered Candide, but let us cultivate our garden."

Candide is some of the very first satire I've read. Frankly I found it hilarious, even if I didn't get all of underlining pokes at society. The whole novel was melodramatic and the writing (or at least this translation) was wonderfully comical.
