After restarting this book TWICE, I finally finally FINALLY read and finished THE RAGE OF DRAGONS by Evan Winter! And oh boy, can this man WRITE write some action sequences, y’all. The fighting was so easy to follow and envision in my head; it was like watching an action movie in my head. I was absolutely submerged in this world, the culture, the politics…EVERYTHANG. Winter writes in a way that makes you desperate to know what happens next, and it doesn’t shy away from the gore, death, and pain that would realistically be present in a world such as this one.

I absolutely LOVED the sense of strong friendship, loyalty, and love between Black men that was present throughout this book. Friendship between Black men that’s not steeped in toxicity is always awesome to see because it’s real life, y’all! Watching Tau’s character arc was fascinating, and I’m excited to see where he goes next and how else he evolves. I’m looking forward to reading THE FIRES OF VENGEANCE this month and also seeing how the Queen plays into the story.
