Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
3.0

I was waffling between three and four stars on this one, but I think this is where I’m settling in.

So glad we got more time with Rhiannon and loved meeting Sloane and Aaric!! The dragons seemed to take more of a back seat in this one, but I loved it when they made an appearance.

Now for some of my not-so-favorite things:

This book was way too long (and I’m a bit concerned where the rest of this series really has to go based on everything that has already happened up to this point!)

Is that really the entire arc we’re going to get for General Sorrengail?!?! Like, come on!! She was absolutely evil in the first book and now we’re supposed to feel sad about her?? Even Dain managed to have more development!

The steamy scenes were not it. And the fact that they happened at the most dramatic times (people dying, “we’re about to be attacked”) really just made me want to skim through them more. And maybe it was just the length of the book, but the lovey dovey-ness of it all also got a bit annoying.

The ending was expected, but also felt a bit rushed in terms of, WE HAVE THREE MORE BOOKS TO GO!!
