I wish I had read the previous books in the series to better understand the characters, as that would have made it easier to connect with the story. While this book was a bit slow at times, I ended up enjoying it. The plot follows Hazel, who returns to her small town after her ex-husband is shot and killed. Determined to uncover the truth, she teams up with Kole (an ex lover) —who is now leading the investigation. Their partnership to solve the murder adds an interesting dynamic to the story, and while it had some pacing issues, it was an engaging read overall.
