I was so excited for this book! I had such high expectations and it just didn’t do it for me. It was a good book but not great. It reminded me a lot of hunger games and didn’t really give me any new or different insight into our horrific carceral system. I wanted more. Also the couple romance scenes did not feel believable to me. It’s likely an unpopular opinion but I just wasn’t that impressed.
