I have to say, discovering Ryan Attard was a treat! He's genuine funny, and there were several moments where I was out-right laughing. Which is rare, books get chuckles or giggles, but outloud laughing? That's rare.

That alone will make me recommend this author to anyone,
as for this series in itself. I found it entertaining enough, it's worth a read if you're a fan of urban fantasy as myself (it's 80% of everything I read) but I wasn't personally a fan of the big "final battle" of the book. It was very OVER-THE-TOP, a character should have room to grow in strength and power over the series and the fight kind of put Erik on the god-like specter of things. But then again, it's a plot about "the end of the world", typical angels waring with hell thing.
