This book is one of my favorite historical romances. It takes the classic rake-wallflower setup, but does something beautifully subversive with it. Both MCs have big secrets, and a lot to learn about how to trust and accept help from others. Their characters and their chemistry are exquisitely realised, and the specifics of the eventual HEA are so moving. Truly, an ending I still think about a lot, even months later.
