The brevity of this book is one of its core strengths, although the pacing is somewhat uneven (luckily in a way that allows for an increase in speed towards the end of the book). It is certainly an unexpected way to ruminate on the current pandemic, but not an unwarranted one. Within the current context it works, and well, but a few years down the line some of the insights may be lost a little. The overarching story, stripped of its satire would still work well as a novel in its own right, and perhaps it would have benefitted from the pruning of its more blatant reflections on the present to allow for more organic comparisons to be made.
Either way - an enjoyable read, but probably not one that I will come back too.
