Excellent beginning, pretty good middle, and a good ending. I love that this is a Spanish Inquisition-inspired YA novel, and I could see the influences throughout the book. While there were some flaws with the character development, world building, and a few plot points that didn't pan out (at least for now), I really enjoyed my time reading this! It was engaging, and I love the magic system. I will definitely read the sequel because I want to know what happens next.
