bookergirl90 's review for:
To Tame a Highland Warrior
by Karen Marie Moning
I am a big sucker for a Scottish man in a kilt (Hello Outlander..) so I was ready to pick up this second volume in The Highlander series, even after only giving the first one 3 stars as well.
I felt that this one was weaker than the first one. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. Felt very middle of the road. Grimm and Jillian, our main characters, were annoying from page one and didn't get any better through the book. While the first book deals with time travel, this second book deals with "a mythical beast in the form of a man" called a Berserker. We spent half of the book in a "will they, won't they" situation, which even for romance novels goes on too long. I don't read a lot of straight romance novels, but I did enjoy the way the sex scenes were written. They are done tasteful and realistic and makes a big deal to focus on Jillian's pleasure not just Grimm's. I have heard the series gets better at book four, so I'm willing to continue to at least that point.
