This was not at all what I expected. It was compelling and it was easy to read super fast because I really wanted to figure out what was actually going on. Everytime I thought I had it figured out I got a new detail that made what I thought was happening stop making sense. 

I can't say too much without spoiling the plot, but I did find it a little bit schlocky. The ending was quite hopeful
