Vengeful
by V.E. Schwab
When I read Vicious last year, I didn't think the upcoming sequel would be able to top it, and how wrong I was. This is a spoiler free review.
I will admit to initially struggling, but I believe this was due to starting then putting the book down to read another YA new release, so when I did pick it back up I didn't think it could come anywhere close to how I felt about Vicious, but once it got going, it really got going and I couldn't put it down. I finished the final 'part' of the book, 170 pages in one sitting, it was that engaging.
It was great to see everyone again, and I will admit to my feelings about a few characters changing. I liked Schwab's use of minor characters who appeared in book 1, and it was really nice to see them come into their own and how they were utilised in the plot.
Considering I had never heard of V.E. Schwab until I buddy read her Shades of Magic series, she is now a firm favourite of mine and I can't wait for book 3 of the Villains series/universe.
